About Me
I'm a programmer and musician with an interest in video games from the 1990s. In particular, here are some of my favorite game series:
- 90's Id Software games (including Keen, Wolf3D and Doom)
- Chex Quest
- Yoshi games
Here are the communities you can find me in:
- Neocities: This is just the profile page for this very website. You can check here to catch any updates that happen.
- Public Commander Keen Forum and KeenWiki: The community surrounding the classic DOS platformer Commander Keen. Here, I actually go by the name "TheBigV", after the medal seen in the ending of Keen 3. This may be the only community where I don't use my usual alias.
- Doomworld: The biggest fansite for the Doom franchise. I mostly just talk about classic Doom there and occasionally Chex Quest.
- Doom Wiki: The REAL Doom Wiki, not the stupid FANDOM one. I mostly joined to help maintain any pages for my own Doom creations that end up there, but sometimes I may do other contributions there too.
- Doom Speed Demos Archive: This website doesn't actually have an account system, this page is just where all my demos that I post to Doomworld go. I'm not really an experienced speedrunner, usually I just make the initial demos for some WADs that don't already have runs.
- Chex Quest Fan Forums: Yes, there's an entire forum dedicated to Chex Quest. It's not very active nowadays, but this community is largely why Chex Quest 3 and Chex Quest HD even exist.
- GitHub: I'm mainly on there to submit PRs and issues to projects that happen to be hosted there. My own projects will be hosted elsewhere.
- YouTube: This is where I usually post my musical creations. I don't exactly consider myself a "YouTuber", I think of myself more of as a "person with a YouTube channel".
Also be sure to check out Plerb Tech, my sibling's website. They make pixel art, comics and animations.
YouTube Channels I Like
- Pixelmusement: The channel of the web show Ancient DOS Games, which I highly recommend watching if you're a fan of DOS games in general. The ADG reviews also usually feature tips for getting games running properly in DOSBox. This channel also used have a show called Shovelware Diggers.
- Retro Game Mechanics Explained: This channel goes into detail about all the technical tricks that various old games used, as well as how the SNES works.
- Scott The Woz: He does videos on various interesting gaming topics, while also including some funny skits and occasionally songs.
- plerb tech: My sibling's channel. Mostly contains short Flash animations, but FamiTracker compositions also occasionally show up.
